February 2026 Industry Newsletter - Notes from the CEO

Published on February 20, 2026

Dear Tourism Partner,

as we move into February, I want to take this opportunity to thank each of you for the strong start to the year. From our lodging partners and restaurant teams to attraction operators and city leaders — your commitment continues to shape a visitor experience that reflects the best of Southeast Volusia County.

January delivered healthy occupancy and visitation across the New Smyrna Beach Area, with favorable weather, steady weekend travel, and a growing number of regional visitors extending their stays. Our early-year marketing campaigns are performing well, and we’ve seen increased engagement with travel planners and digital resources, particularly around cultural events, eco-tourism, and historic experiences.

February Outlook
This month brings several key opportunities:

  • Valentine’s and Presidents Day Weekend are strong travel windows, with both romantic getaways and family stays driving demand. We're encouraging visitors to explore beyond the beach — including our culinary scene, arts districts, and inland adventures.
  • Black History Month is a chance to honor and highlight the cultural richness of our region. We’re collaborating with local partners to amplify events and stories that reflect our community’s diverse heritage.
  • Local Events such as the Art Fiesta, Wine Walk, and Canal Street Historic District activities offer added reasons for visitors to engage with our destination during the slower weeks of winter.

Looking Ahead
We are actively preparing for the spring season and continuing to align with the nationwide Semiquincentennial campaign. As the U.S. celebrates its 250th anniversary, Southeast Volusia is uniquely positioned to draw interest through our deep historical roots, authentic local stories, and vibrant cultural offerings.

Please remember:

  • Keep your events and offerings updated on the VisitNSBFL.com calendar.
  • Share imagery and visitor feedback to help us showcase your business in upcoming promotions.
  • Reach out if you have ideas, needs, or partnership opportunities — our team is here to support.

Final Thoughts
Tourism continues to be one of the strongest economic engines in Southeast Volusia, creating jobs, supporting small businesses, and enhancing the overall quality of life for our residents. We don’t take that responsibility lightly — and we know that our success depends on the cooperation and leadership of partners like you.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to excellence. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue building a destination that we’re proud to call home.

Keep Traveling,
